Friendsville is a small city in eastern Tennessee. It is located south of the Little Tennessee River and 22 miles south of Knoxville. According to the United States Census Bureau, Friendsville had a population of approximately 926 people in 2016.

Friendsville is located in a region of Tennessee that was originally inhabited by Native American Indians. Eventually, European peoples arrived in the area and began establishing settlements. Quakers, also known as the Religious Society of Friends, settled in the area of modern-day Friendsville in the late 1700s. The Quakers established a community and constructed a Friends Meetinghouse. The community became known as Friendsville and eventually incorporated in 1953.
